Battle of the East GT: Victory in Bury St. Edmunds!

The Champion

Taking top honors after a dominant performance was Josh Roberts, who swept the weekend with a flawless run. Running his Dark Angels list, Josh didn't drop a single point all weekend—a phenomenal display of tabletop skill and tactical control!

How Team Hemel Wargamers Fared

Our very own Hemel Wargamers crew were out in full force, putting up impressive results across the board against top-tier competition:

  • Alex Shaughnessy (27th Overall): Went completely undefeated on Day 1 with his Emperor’s Children, fighting his way onto the top tables on Day 2 to secure a stellar 27th-place finish.

  • Roman Posner (28th Overall): Delivers a strong performance right behind Alex, battling to 28th position with an impressive 3-win record.

  • Rob Maxwell (43rd Overall): Fought through tough match-ups to lock in 43rd place with a solid 2 wins and 1 draw.

  • Cayden Carrington (45th Overall): Showed incredible skill in his bracket, taking home Best in Bracket with 2 wins to finish 45th overall.

Off the Tables

For us, the absolute highlight of the weekend was the team house. Having a dedicated base for the team to unwind, review games, and hang out away from the event floor was a total game-changer (and certainly beat staying in a stuffy hotel!). This was paid for by Hemel Wargamers as a thank you to our players for bringing our name, fair play values and awesome attitude to the event.

This was our first major away-from-home event, but it certainly won't be our last. Plans are already in motion to make our external tournament road trips even bigger and better.

Stay tuned for future updates, and a huge thank you to everyone who made the Battle of the East GT such an incredible experience!
