Two years ago, Hemel Wargamers started with a simple goal: find a place for 15 friends to roll some dice. We didn't realise we were actually building the foundation for a fantastic gaming community.
Built Because "Good Enough" Wasn't Enough.
We didn’t start Hemel Wargamers to just be another shop on the corner. We started it because we were looking for a store that put the player first—and we couldn't find it. So, we built it ourselves.
Our philosophy is stripped-back and uncompromising. Every time we stock a new line, organize a tournament, or stay open late, we ask one question: "What’s in it for the gamer?" If we can’t answer that, we don’t do it. Period. We are For Gamers, By Gamers, and that isn't just a slogan on our wall—it’s the DNA of every decision we make. Our Journey
More than just a shop, our home is a physical manifesto of the hobby—a sanctuary built by hand to ensure that every table, shelf, and roll of the dice puts the gamer exactly where they belong: at the heart of everything we do.
The Beginning
What started as a small group of around fifteen friends looking for a new place to roll some dice and share a few laughs became something more - Hemel Wargamers was born.
The Idea
After a vivid dream of creating a store and dedicated gaming space of their own, the seed was planted. What began as a simple idea soon grew into a serious thought and before long, that thought became a plan.
Let's Do This
The plan was all set and ready. All that remained was the right moment to pull the trigger. Then, on a rainy Wednesday evening in April 2025, that moment arrived. The trigger was pulled and everything began to roll.
The Big Opening
After a year of relentless hard work, late nights and big decisions, the dream finally stood before us in brick and mortar. Shelves were stocked, tables set and dice were ready to roll. The doors finally opened.
I shared a vision with Chris—a dream so vivid I could almost hear the dice hitting the table—of a space where our community finally came first. That spark ignited a fire, turning a 'what if' into a concrete mission, until April 2025 when I looked at Chris and said, 'Let’s do this.'
